Tree Planting Volunteer opportunity July/ August 2022

Here at Winton Wetlands, we have some very exciting upcoming volunteer opportunities for you, your friends, and family to contribute to the largest wetlands restoration project in the southern hemisphere!

Over several days, volunteers will assist with planting of seeds and ‘tubes’ that will grow into mighty River Red Gums and other types of plants native to the wetlands.

Friday 29th  July (Schools Tree Day) – we invite schools, students and teachers to get involved

If you are interested in volunteering as a school group, please contact  Luke.Legudi@wintonwetlands.org.au  or call on 0357 477 116.

Sunday 31st July (National Tree Day) and Sunday 28th August – we welcome anyone interested in making a difference!

If you are interested in volunteering as an individual, click here  and complete our registration form.

The planting is part of a project being generously funded by Victoria’s Environment Protection Authority to increase the floristic and structural diversity of several sites that have recently undergone the process known as ‘ecological thinning’. In an effort to repair environmental damage done in decades gone by, the Winton Wetlands team – with the help of enthusiastic volunteers – is undertaking these planting activities to give nature a helping hand restoring the wetlands to something more like its natural state.

Volunteers will be supervised, enjoy a free lunch, gain educational benefits through improved understanding of how plant eco-systems work, experience the benefits of healthy outdoor activity – and have fun.

For further information please contact Luke.Legudi@wintonwetlands.org.au  or call us on 0357 477 116.
