Soaring Sea Eagles Spotted!

White-bellied Sea Eagles (WBSE) have been recently circling above Mokoan Ponds and Ashmead’s Swamp. Although this species has been spotted within the reserve in previous years, the WBSE is considered endangered in Victoria and sightings are becoming increasingly rare.
The continued presence of this species highlights the importance of Winton Wetlands as a refuge to support rare and threatened species.
Thanks to #birdlifemurraygoulburn we have an extensive list of bird species identified during their quarterly surveys of the reserve.
We’d love to add to our reserve bird sightings, but with a site so huge we need your help! We encourage you all to keep an eye out whilst enjoying the Winton Wetlands and report any rare or unique species to our team in our project office.
