Our Village Project at Winton Wetlands – part of Winton Wetlands Wild Week
Saturday 25 November.
Participate in a Free Arts and Gardening Workshop
Join us for a day of creativity and community engagement at Winton Wetlands! Our Village is a participatory art project, brought to you by the Village Festival in collaboration with Winton Wetlands. We’re embarking on a unique journey to build a cardboard city filled with imaginative creations, all while planting indigenous seeds and seedlings.
As part of our public open day on Saturday 25 November, a giant rain machine will work its magic, transforming the cardboard city into a native garden that will slowly grow and change over time, creating a living artwork that will grace the Winton Wetlands for years to come.
The Our Village project is led by a diverse team of facilitators, including a renowned cardboard sculptor, a professional landscape artist/gardener, and a children’s performer. This project invites us to envision our future in new and imaginative ways.
As the years pass, visitors to Winton Wetlands Park will witness the cardboard village gradually fading away, replaced by a thriving garden. This transformation symbolises not only the growth of indigenous plants but also the utopia we collectively build during our sessions. It’s a reflection of our shared commitment to creating a better, healthier vision for our planet and our village.
How can you be involved?
Children from several local schools are participating in workshops to create the garden art in the period from Tuesday 22 November through to Friday 24 November.
On Saturday 25 November, you can drop by the garden between 10:00am and 12:30pm, and join us in creating the sculpture and planting a seed. Bring your friends and family along – all are welcome!
You’ll find it in the area adjacent to our education centre building, 668 Lake Mokoan Road, Winton North.
Come be part of this exciting project and help shape a brighter future for our planet and our community.
See you at Winton Wetlands on 25 November! Together, we’ll make a difference.
