Now you can ‘Recycle for Restoration”!

Victoria’s new Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) is now under way. It provides for 10c refunds for eligible aluminium cans, plastic and glass bottles and tetra pack juice boxes.

Winton Wetlands Committee of Management has become a registered Donation Partner on the CDS.

What this means is that you now have the opportunity to financially support restoration work at Winton Wetlands via our ‘recycle for restoration’ initiative.

It’s a win-win for the environment – not only can you recycle but you can, at the same time, direct funding to important restoration work happening at the wetlands.

To contribute:

  • Collect eligible bottles and cans
  • Download the VISY North Zone Operator App on your phone and create your own profile
  • Take your cans/bottles to the nearest container collection centre – see link below for a list of locations. Most are open from 8am-4pm weekdays.
  • Nominate Winton Wetlands (Donor Partner ID C2000009324 or look up ‘Winton Wetlands’ in the registered donation partners list) as your preferred receiver of proceeds – either on the App or in person at the collection centre

We are already actively making our own returns to the project via discarded bottles and cans from the Mokoan Hub and Café.  We’d greatly appreciate it if other recycling contributors could support our work through the CDS too.
