New Chief Executive Officer Appointed

Winton Wetlands Committee of Management is very pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Mr Daniel Basham. Mr Basham was appointed CEO in August 2018.

The committee resolved to appoint Mr Basham after an extensive recruitment process facilitated by an external recruitment agency.

Chair, Dr Dennis O’Brien, said he was thrilled with the appointment of Mr Basham.

“Mr Basham is an outstanding choice to lead Winton Wetlands at this time,” Dr O’Brien said.

“With his strong focus on the community, his passion, drive and superior leadership skills, Mr Basham’s extensive experience in the areas of governance, organisational development, customer service and community services ensures that Winton Wetlands is in safe and very capable hands.”

Mr Basham said he was humbled and excited to have been appointed the CEO of Winton Wetlands and looked forward to building on the foundation established by outgoing CEO, Jim Grant.

“Over the past 5 years, Jim has helped to position the wetlands as a growing eco-tourism destination, with a strong focus of infrastructure that lead to ever-increasing visitation, complemented by tangible restoration and scientific results” Mr Basham said.

“I look forward to working with the staff, committee and community to build on these successes and to see the wetlands grow even further in the areas of education and regeneration.”

“I feel very fortunate to be leading the wetlands – it serves as a hub for a passionate and connected community and I look forward to exploring how we can expand the reach and influence of the wetlands even further.”
