Did you know that the conservation and restoration activity that goes on at Winton Wetlands is actually part of a branch of science known as wetland science? That’s something to keep in mind this week as we celebrate National Science Week 13 -21 August! Saving native flora and fauna, maintaining healthy water flows and creating a more balanced and sustainable eco-system is not something to be left to chance: it takes lots of study, data gathering, and input from experts and fabulous volunteers of many kinds. The lessons being learned at Winton Wetlands are adding to a body of knowledge that will help wetlands everywhere. So, as we celebrate National Science Week, let’s remember that great science isn’t only done by people in labs wearing white coats!
