This year’s NAIDOC Week – an annual national event celebrating First Nations people and culture – has adopted the theme “For Our Elders”.
Winton Wetlands is marking the occasion with a special morning tea hosted by Koorie cultural officer, Nikki James, a proud Yorta Yorta woman. Nikki will talk about what Elders mean to her culture and outline some of the history of Mokoan, as the wetlands have long been known to Yorta Yorta people, from her perspective.
Appropriately, the event will be held in and around the Mokoan Café & Hub at Winton Wetlands, from 10am-12.30pm, Friday 7 July – starting 10am sharp, with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony.
Come along to listen, learn, ask questions, chat and enjoy a pleasant enjoy morning tea – all for only $15! Amazing.
