Winton Wetlands has featured in a major international movie production called ‘Foe’, screened on Amazon Prime and in selected cinemas during 2024.

For much of the early part of 2022, building and production crews were on-site at the wetlands, building sets and filming key segments for the movie, based on a fantasy novel by Canadian writer Iain Reid.  A North American style house and barn were constructed on-site and removed at the end of shooting.

The story is described as a psychological thriller and horror fiction set against a science fiction backdrop, sometime in the near future. In the story, the lives of a married couple living on a remote farm are thrown into turmoil when a stranger arrives.

Irish actors Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal play the lead roles, and the director is Garth Davis, known for his international hit movie, Lion.
