Thanks to the Parks Victoria Volunteer Innovation Fund, BirdLife Australia will give a demonstration of nest log preparation at Winton Wetlands. Nest logs and nest boxes will be installed this season at Winton Wetlands, Mt Meg Nature Conservation Reserve and Katamatite Creek Bushland Reserve to supplement natural tree hollows for hollow-nesting birds, such as the Turquoise Parrot and Brown Treecreeper.
You are invited to attend to learn about these threatened hollow-nesting bird species and have a chance to make a nest log for these birds.
Morning tea and lunch provided.
The Northern Reserves Nest Log and Nest Box Parks Victoria Volunteer Innovation Fund Project is a collaboration between several organisations, including Parks Victoria, BirdLife Australia (Murray-Goulburn Branch), Winton Wetlands Committee of Management, Southern Cross University (Associate Professor Ross Goldingay) and Friends of Warby-Ovens National Park. We would also like to thank Janice Mentiplay-Smith, Peter Smith and Chris Tzaros (Birds Bush and Beyond).
